The 18th Annual HR Survey, 2016-17

IMA focuses on creating categorical insight into the operating context of business – the economy, global and domestic, and emergent policy. Another fundamental component of our work is to build leading thought – through benchmarks and best practice case studies – on internal strategies as IMA members seek to establish globally competitive firms. IMA’s work on HR and talent among its CEO and CHRO Forums as indeed, its other strategic lead Forums, is a core component of this endeavour. Insight-generation is enabled both through member brainstorming debates, independent IMA research and member surveys on core HR issues to identify prevailing benchmarks.

The Annual HR Survey is a key component of this work. Based on a methodology that has been refined over two decades, it has the rigour necessary for today's environment. Continuous member engagement ensures responses in the most immediate context for business. The 2016-17 survey attracted over 300 company responses to an extensive questionnaire in December 2016-January 2017, and another 100 responded to a follow-up survey in March. Comparisons are  drawn in the report with results from previous years’ surveys to provide a medium-term context for current trends.
